Funding news

Thank you to everyone who supports us financially - a vital lifeline for us as you must know. I am enormously grateful for the huge numbers of people who have shown an interest in what we are doing and who have chosen to support us. Nothing is taken out of the fund for administration in the UK except for bank charges, no fancy cars or offices, your money goes directly to the project.

We are now coming to the end of our accounting year and thinking back over that time I realise just how very much we have achieved, especially in the purchase of the house. Of course, the start-up was always going to be a big expense and we can now work on making the project sustainable for the longer term. I continue to be amazed at how far we have come in only two years and it is sometimes difficult to see it, until visitors arrive and I see their reaction. We are becoming very well known in the area now and wherever I go I am greeted with smiles and thanks. We are making a very real difference to the lives of the poorest people of the community, so thank you very much indeed.

Some changes to donating arrangements

We now have our own dedicated site with just giving, find us at http://justgiving.com/kinambacp  All donations to justgiving from UK taxpayers attract an additional 28% in giftaid which is very important now as the pound has dropped so much in value and the exchange rate is very poor.

Meanwhile, here in the UK, we are hoping that those people who pay on a monthly basis by standing order to the Derbyshire Building Society account will transfer the payments to the justgiving account using a debit/credit card. Log in to http://justgiving.com/kinambacp/donate  and please let us know if and when you do this.

There is our own page and 2 additional pages for two bold adventurers who are supporting us.

Ben Honisett is planning an amazing 50-day trek, check it out on our website http://www.kinambaproject.org.uk  He is aiming to raise at least £5000 and he is looking for sponsors.

His page for donations is http://www.justgiving.com/benhonisett

Martin Ellison of Dowdales School is planning to swim with sharks!

His page address is http://www.justgiving.com/martinellison

People do the most amazing things on our behalf, we are so grateful.

We now have a new bank account and any cheques should be payable to Kinamba Community Project and sent to Kathryn McCartney P.O. Box 7735 Ilkeston DE7 0DD please let us know by email if you use this route. Write to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  Cheques in any currency are acceptable. We can also give you details for direct transfer of donations if you wish.

I hope to open a dollar account in Rwanda next time I am there which will make direct transfer of US dollars easier and cheaper. We are hoping to have a group established in Canada which will give tax benefits for donors there. More news about that in a couple of month's time. We are also hopeful of finding a donor recipient in the USA which will give similar benefits to American donors. If anyone in the United States can help us with this we would be very happy to hear from you.

Words are inadequate to express my thanks to you all. It is so gratifying and also very touching to know we have so many friends out there. We spend your money as wisely as we can and we are making a difference to many people.

I wish you all the good things you would wish for yourselves.

Love, happiness and peace to all. Meg
